Halloween Iggy Playdate

 

Join us Sunday, October 28th at 4pm at OKC Paw Park for a fun Halloween Themed IG Playdate!
(Please note we have changed the location to the OKC Paw Park as of 10/23/12)

 Paw Park is located off Grand Blvd. and the east side of Lake Hefner Pkwy. We will be playing in the "small dog" area, or the gate on the left when you get to the park.

 

If your Iggy has a costume, let them show it off!

 

Please use your best judgment when bringing your IG (or other small breed) dog to the dog park and leash them if they are acting inappropriately. Let's make it fun for all! Hope to see you there!

 

 

Recurring Playdates

We now have a set schedule for our playdates! Since our members are split between the north and south OKC areas, we will have two playdates each month- one at the OKC Paw Park and one at the Edmond Dog Park!

2nd Saturday of each month: 5:00pm

OKC Paw Park

Grand Blvd., just east of Hefner Parkway

4th Sunday of each month: 9:00am

Edmond Dog Park

E. 33rd St., just east of Boulevard St. (behind Mardel)

Hopefully this will accommodate most everyone's schedule and location!

The Edmond Dog Park is located just east of 33rd & Boulevard in Edmond behind Mardel. (you can park behind Mardel and walk along 33rd to reach the entrance). They just expanded their small dog park to cover more area so we will have plenty of room to play.

Hopefully the weather will still be cool and we can stay and play a little longer! Hope to see you there.

This particular small dog park has LOTS of nice shady areas, a shallow doggie pool and usually a light breeze. See you there!

The Iggy Playdate will be immediately following the OKC Rescue Day & Dog Wash, an event created with the intent to raise funds for Oklahoma rescues and animal welfare organizations with an emphasis on breed-specific rescues.

Hazeljane's Blessings Italian Greyhound Rescue will have a booth at the event, so be sure to stop by and show your support for all they are doing for the Iggy community! The event will be held from 10am-4pm inthe parking lot outside A1 Pet Emporium (Britton & May Ave. in OKC).

Debbie Curtis, mom to PIE! the Iggy, has once again offered her large backyard for our next Iggy Play Date. She has a very large, nice fenced in backyard and then some! Check out pics from our last Iggy Playdate at Debbie's house.

We will be celebrating an EXTRA special occasion: Kelly Beals, who helped me start this group, is adopting her foster iggy GIANNI! Gianni is a sweet, shy boy who Kelly has been fostering for Hazeljane's Blessings and her husband decided to make him a member of their family as a birthday gift to Kelly <3

We had a great turnout at the Iggy Playdate yesterday - thanks to all who came!

Iggy Playdate: this Sunday!

This is no April Fools! Meet at the Edmond Dog Park this Sunday, April 1st at 4:00pm for another Iggy Playdate! The Edmond Dog park has a really nice small dog area that is separately fenced for safe Iggy Play. I've added some info on the Edmond Dog Park under the Area Dog Parks page {http://​iggysocialclub.blogspot.com​/p/area-dog-parks.html}

The Edmond Dog Park is really easy to find, it's located off E. 33rd & Boulevard in Edmond, right behind Mardel. The best place to park is just to the side of Mardel (North side) then walk your leashed dogs along the sidewalk into the gates facing 33rd.

Remember, this is a public dog park so you will want to make sure your Igglet is up-to-date on their vaccinations. Bring a lawn chair and see you there!

Greyhound vs. IG contest!

The Italian Greyhound Rescue Foundation & Halfway Home Greyhound Adoption (of Tulsa, OK) have teamed up in a hilarious way to raise money and awareness for 2 great causes.

Basically, you submit a picture of either your Iggy or Greyhound, and that enters them in the "Presidential" race for the following titles:

• Canine Perpetrator…er President of the United States
• Canine VP (Wants power but too lazy to be President)
• Secretary of Slumber
• Speaker of the Doghouse
• Pack … er Majority Leader
• Pilferer of the Treasury
• Attorney General of Shredders, Stashers and Swindlers
• Prince of Piddlers
• Princess of Pooper Scoopers

Votes are $1 each and you can share the contest with anyone and everyone you know to bump up your doggies' votes AND raise money for two great adoption organizations at the same time. FUN! I hope everyone considers joining, if for anything, a little bit of fun and friendly competition. I will definitely be entering my 4 Greyhounds and 1 Italian Greyhound!

Pics from our first play date

Thanks to everyone who came out to the OKC Paw Park yesterday for our first social gathering. Even though the wind was COLD I think all the Iggies had a great time playing! In total we had 10 Italian Greyhounds come to play - that was a huge success. I hope everyone had a good time.

Debbie Curtis, one of the Iggy moms, has offered to have the next Play Date at her home- she has a really large backyard. Details to come!

Our first Iggy Playdate

Our first gathering will be this Sunday, January 15th, 2012 at 3:00pm.

Bring something warm for your Iggy to wear in case the weather gets chilly. It's supposed to be around 60 degrees that afternoon.
